Susan Gilmore, Executive Director

Executive Director and founder, Susan Gilmore, is responsible for the oversight of the entire organization which includes board development, fund development, program development, community relations, budget and finance, and the supervision of the administrative team. Ms. Gilmore has been with the agency since 1986. She holds a degree in Child Development and has more than 30 years of experience in the child development field.

She is considered a leader in the child care community and is a valuable resrouce to non-profit boards, the business community and local planning groups.  Susan served as chair for two consecutive terms on the Marin County Child Care Commission and served on Marin County's Workforce Investment Board. 

Susan currently serves as Board President on the Petaluma Education Foundation Board of  Directors which she has been a member of for the past six years.  She is also a graduate of the Novato, San Rafael and Petaluma Leadership programs.  Ms. Gilmore is well connected to the community and is able to link NBCC to numerous resources throughout Marin and Sonoma Counties.

Mary Ann Hovis, Finance Director

Mary Ann came to NBCC over 5 years ago and brought with her 12 years experience in non-profit accounting.  Prior to that she worked in the financial area of a variety of industries in the private sector.  NBCC’s continual growth and variety of funding sources continues to keep Mary Ann’s accounting world exciting.

Linda Millerick, Development Director

With twenty years development experience Linda is knowledgeable in major donor, individual and corporate development as well as Board, staff and volunteer relations.  She is a collaborative team leader and public speaker with special events management, public relations and successful grant writing expertise.  

As a former NBCC Board member she has the unique background to understand the needs of the children and families that NBCC serves.  A former graduate and Chair of the Novato Chamber of Commerce Leadership program, member of AFP (American Fundraising Professionals), and community advocate, Linda recently joined the NBCC team.

Teri Lane, Program Director for Marin and Sonoma Counties

As the newest member of the NBCC management team, joining in November 2009, Teri brings with her 29 years of work experience in early childhood education; including both classroom teaching and managing child care centers.  She has extensive experience in non-profit child care working with diverse populations in preschool, school age, and infant-toddler programs, including managing children’s centers at UC Berkeley and CSU, Sacramento.  Teri holds a degree in Child Development from CSU Chico and graduate studies in Human Development from Pacific Oaks College. She also holds a CA Children’s Center Supervision Permit.  As Program Director, Teri is responsible for program development, parent involvement, staff development and training, and grant oversight for the NBCC’s six sites.

Originally from Napa, Teri relocated in the North Bay after living 18 years in the Sacramento region.  She is looking forward to becoming involved in her community and “giving back” to the children and families in the region.  Teri is a licensed Intensive Care Foster Parent and is dedicated to enriching the lives of young children.  

Maureen Bush, Regional Director, Marin County

Maureen Bush joined the NBCC Management Team a year and a half ago.  Maureen has 15 years of leadership and Program experience in the field of Early Childhood Education.  Previous to that, Maureen worked in the corporate arena for 12 years as a Human Resources/EAP consultant.  Maureen holds a Site Supervisor Permit with the CCTC and is a Certified California Mentor Teacher through the Mentor Program at SFSU and SRJC.  Maureen is also a member of the Preschool Administrative Leadership Program in Marin County.

In her role as an NBCC Regional Director, Maureen manages the Marin County “C” Street and Tinker Way sites.  Maureen has lived in several different countries and embraces multicultural experiences, languages and ethnic traditions, all of which she finds at North Bay Children’s Center.  She especially enjoys the diversity among children, staff and families.

Meg Frye, Regional Director, Sonoma County

Meg has been part of the NBCC Management Team for 2 years.  Meg’s nine years experience in Early Childhood Education and Non Profit Leadership,  along with her almost 20 years experience in business administration have been a great match for NBCC’s recent growth and development.  

Meg has worked extensively throughout Latin America, the Middle East, Europe and Asia and she brings this experience with her as she manages four NBCC Centers with culturally diverse populations in Sonoma County.  Meg is currently a member of the Sonoma County Child Care Planning Council, the School Readiness Initiative of Sonoma County, Early Start Collaborative of Petaluma, and a director for the West Marin Chamber of Commerce.  Meg holds a Site Supervisor Permit with the CCTC.  

David Haskell, Garden of Eatin' Program Director

David has taken a leadership role in the award winning Garden of Eatin’ Project almost since its inception in 2004. He was first involved as a member of the project’s Community Steering Committee where, in his role a Director of Operations at Slide Ranch, he lead a team of Slide Ranch Interns in the original design of the C Street Garden. Working along- side Garden of Eatin’ Nutritionist, Christine Berman, David has guided NBCC’s nutrition education policies and programs so that today the project reaches over 700 children at nine North Bay early childhood centers.,

David is a fifth generation native Californian. He graduated from of the University of California at Berkeley. David discovered his “green thumbs” during his 31 years living, working and raising his family in New Zealand.  David has a number of honors including recognition from Queen Elizabeth for his work as the Director of Energy Conservation with the New Zealand government and more lately in 2008, David was declared a Marin County Health Hero for his advocacy on behalf of children’s health.
