Susan Gilmore, Our Executive Director
Executive Director and founder, Susan Gilmore, is responsible for the oversight of the entire organization which includes board development, fund development, program development, community relations, budget and finance, and the supervision of the administrative team. Ms. Gilmore has been with the agency since 1986. She holds a degree in Child Development and has more than 30 years of experience in the child development field.
Ms. Gilmore worked as a teacher and administrator at the Marin Jewish Community Center for ten years before leaving to start the North Bay Children's Center. She is considered a leader in the child care community and is a valuable resource to non-profit boards, the business community and local planning groups. Susan served as chair for two consecutive terms on the Marin County Child Care Commission, and served on Marin County's Workforce Investment Board. She is also a graduate of Novato, San Rafael and Petaluma Leadership programs. Ms. Gilmore is well connected to the community and is able to link NBCC to numerous resources throughout the county.
Jayne Johnson, Our Program Director
Program Director, Jayne Johnson, reports directly to the Executive Director and is responsible for staff development and supervision, program development and parent support at all four of our sites. Ms. Johnson has been in the child care field since 1993 as a teacher and administrator. She holds a Children's Center Permit, and has taken numerous courses related to child development. She is responsible for ensuring that the classrooms are following CDE's Desired Results and Creative Curriculum's developmentally appropriate practices.
Ms. Johnson works closely with the NBCC families on assessing their needs and making referrals to outside resources when additional or alternate services are needed.
Ms. Johnson has been involved in community organizations throughout the Bay Area including the Infant/Toddler Consortium, Marin Association for the Education of Young Children, and the Marin County Child Care Commission. She is a graduate of the Novato Leadership program and is actively involved in local child care associations and collation groups.
