Now, more than ever before, every child needs a garden. All children need to know how wonderfully delicious a juicy sweet peach or strawberry or sugar snap pea or green bean can taste freshly picked from the vine. It is bery gratifying for all of us at NBCC to see our children choose fresh. Their palates and taste buds have come to appreciate and enjoy the taste of naturally grown foods. We know they are eating far more fruits and vegetables.

It ’s our goal at the NBCC to expand our program because every child needs a garden. The sad truth is that if a child is not exposed or given the chance to experience the tasty joys of eating fresh, they will most likely never know what they are missing and the odds that they will become addicted to the salt, sugar and fat laden diets that are fueling our society’s chronic childhood obesity epidemic are greatly shortened.
