Gem of the Week

I was recently in the Young Preschool Classroom as I did my daily “walkabout”.  The children know that I enjoy singing with them, so I went in all prepared to do their favorite song, “Birdie, Birdie, Where is Your Nest?”  Low and behold, they wanted to sing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame.”  So, I began to sing along with them and as I did, I noticed their teacher, Nellie Nichols mouthing words to me.  I didn’t understand what she was mouthing or the hand signals she was giving me.  All I knew is that her gestures were very “BIG”.  In the next moment, I realized what would happen…Instead of singing “Root, Root, Root for the Home Team”, the children began giggling and singing “Root, Root, Root, for the “GIANTS!”  Only in California….It was a very sweet moment.
