The PreK Program is for children who choose to wait an extra year or have late birthdays that miss the Kindergarten cut-off date. Children who turn five by spring are eligible to participate in this program. The PreK Program is very similar to the preschool program, but slightly more structured. Our morning group and activity time is the core of our curriculum and starts at 9:30 a.m. We want your child to have a fun and success at school and the best way to start this process is to establish a regular daily schedule.
Our program is designed to nurture creativity, build self-esteem and self-respect, while fostering the child's social, emotional, physical and intellectual development. This is accomplished largely through quality teacher-child interactions and age-appropriate activities. By letting the child know that they are safe, secure and valued individuals, we encourage their natural curiosity and desire to learn. Our curriculum consists of a wide array of pre-math, pre-reading, movement, cooking and a heavy emphasis on open-ended art and science activities. These exploratory opportunities offered in our program foster the key developmental growth of children this age.
During the busy times of the day, we share staff with the school age program. This enables the children to become familiar with the school age teachers so they can transition more easily when the time comes.
