We have two sites for our School Age Program. Our main campus at 934 C street accommodates the Kindergarten and 1st grade children. This allows us to meet the needs of the younger school age child with age appropriate activities. The groups are small and intimate which allow the teachers to provide

NBCC's program begins at 7:00a.m. and offers play, hands-on experiences and exciting adventures for children before and after school until 6:30 pm. The curriculum addresses the developmental needs of school-age children by providing many wonderful opportunities for children to work together in team problem-solving skills, individual study time, computer skills, music/movement, art, science, dramatic play and language arts.

During the school year, NBCC offers full daycare when the elementary schools are closed for breaks, staff development days and half days.

School Transportation

Novato Unified School District provides bus transportation between NBCC and Hamilton Elementary, Loma Verde Elementary Schools and Novato Charter School both in the morning and after school. Families who attend other elementary school programs and wish to sign-up in the NBCC School Age Program must provide their own transportation.

Homework Club

Staff teachers monitor a daily homework club. During this time children receive quiet time in our school age library to complete their homework assignments. A questionnaire for parents to fill out lets our teachers know your child's specific study habits.

Family Services

At NBCC, we are committed to supporting children and families and provide additional resources to them through our long-standing relationships with other county and service agencies. We work closely with the Parents Services Project, an agency that helps develop family leadership in the community as well as Marin County Office of Education for speech and language assessments, and agencies such as Easter Seals, Matrix, Catholic Charities, and Novato Human Needs. We have an Early Childhood Mental Health consultant from the Parents Place (a division of Jewish Families and Children's Services). Our consultant is available to work with children, families and staff regarding any behavioral concerns or family issues that may arise.

There is a broad range of Family Support Services offered by NBCC. Our motto is "All families are special". We realize the each family has their own special qualities and we honor that!. We value the diverse community from ethnicity, family structure, religion, physical disabilities or family income. That's what makes NBCC so unique.

Curriculum

As a developmental program that receives public and private funding, NBCC uses standards set by the California Department of Education and Creative Curriculum to determine class ratios, group sizes and curriculum development. We have been continuously improving our child development programs as well as growing and improving our facilities, outfitting each classroom according to what is age-appropriate for the children it serves. Twice a year our teaching staff reviews and assesses our environments utilizing the Early Childhood Environment Rating Scales. Also, we provide families developmental profiles of their child during parent conferences. These profiles track and review the developmental stages of children. Our main campus is located at 932 C Street and has nine different classrooms, as well as five different playgrounds. We recently expanded our school-age program in a new facility up the street from Hamilton Elementary School at 22 Tinker Way.

As a not-for-profit we receive considerable community support for the maintenance and development of our site and services from parents' fundraising, Marin's business community and the not-for-profit sector at large.

If you are considering NBCC for your child, we encourage you call us to set up an appointment and tour during the center's working hours. Parents with children already enrolled at NBCC may drop in, monitor or participate in classroom activities at any time so long as the visit does not disrupt class activities.
